Silence in the Midst of Chaos

The evening sun sets behind the line of fells on the other side of the lake. From the dawn until this moment, the day has been filled with hard work. I feel dirty and tired. The evening is as beautiful as summer, which is already longed for amid the snow.

It’s so quiet that it feels as if you could touch it. The spring chorus of birds has quieted down for their evening tasks. The nearest road is nine kilometers away, and no sounds reach us from there, even if it were blown to the heavens. This is one of the biggest reasons I wanted to move here.

Silence.

It is a vanishing natural resource, just like a few of my other favorite things.

Silence, darkness, emptiness, and wildness.

This quartet formed the foundation of my entire photography exhibition. Four words that encapsulate my greatest sources of inspiration. All so delicate and prone to disappearance.

Here, all of them can still be found.

That’s why I’m here. In the midst of silence, emptiness, and wildness. Darkness will arrive in its own time in the autumn.

I fit well into silence. In that space, I hear my own thoughts, I hear myself. I don’t get swept away by the current, just like a feather in the wind.

That’s why I’m here.

Peace and silence to your life.

♥ Sanna

P.S. Speaking of the photography exhibition, it will soon be traveling to new exhibition spaces here in the north—two different locations, one in summer and another in autumn. I’ll let you know soon where, so you can come see the images that were created in the midst of silence, darkness, emptiness, and wildness. <3
