Melody of a Rainy Day

I sit alone somewhere on the north side of Lake Inari, by a small lake. It's raining, but it's so gentle that it doesn't bother me. I wouldn't even notice it if I didn't hear how the drops fall onto the clear surface of the lake, producing a sound as clear and pure as the water itself. It sounds like melodies—random yet harmonious.

I retrieve the harmonica I received earlier that week from the car. It belonged to someone dear to both of us, the giver of the harmonica and me. I've never played the harmonica before, but I sit down with it. It has something to say. Then I just play. The playing isn't perfect, but I don't care. It comes from somewhere deep within, and I let it flow.

From that moment, a video and an improvised melody were born. The first of its kind that I will publish.

I thought I would carry the harmonica with me in a Snufkin-like manner and gather melodies from here and there in nature, wherever they might arise.

Thank you, Eija, for the meaningful gift ❤️
